Did you know that you can set up your gesture controls in Procreate to bring up a QuickMenu with just a single touch of the finger?

Setting up QuickMenu on Touch

Here are the steps:

Go to Tools | Gesture Controls | Quick Menu | Switch on Touch.

This will enable the QuickMenu with a single finger touch. So as simple as that you’ve got your QuickMenus available to you no matter what with just a single touch.

And this can save you a lot of time and reduce distraction to have your most-used tools close at hand as you’re immersed in a project. You won’t have to keep going up to the menus to access various items.
It will allow you to access your own favorite custom sets of tools, adjustments, brushes, and more.

QuickMenu Collections

You can set up five items in each QuickMenu.

QuickMenu Collection Examples

Examples of collections you could set up:

  • Portrait brushes
  • Adjustment layers, such as Liquify and Gaussian Blur.
  • Basic air brushes
  • Foliage brushes
  • Sketching brushes
  • Inking brushes
  • Layer options, such as Alpha Lock, Layer Opacity, and Reference Layer.
  • Tools, such as Drawing Assist, Perspective Guide, and even Flipping the canvas horizontally.

A QuickMenu for Every Project

You can also set up a QuickMenu for every project, so your most used brushes are quickly accessible.

How to Create a QuickMenu

  1. To create a new QuickMenu collection, first touch the canvas to bring up QuickMenu.
  2. Then touch and hold the name of the QuickMenu you are currently on. This will bring up the list of QuickMenus available.
  3. Click on the + icon in the top right corner of the list.
  4. This will add your new QuickMenu to the top of the list.
  5. Click it and it will open it up.
  6. Initially you’ll see the default name, surrounded by six slots labeled as No Action.
  7. Touch and hold any of the No Action buttons to bring up the Set Action List.
  8. Then simply choose whatever you’d like to add to each slot.
  9. Note that if you want to add a brush to a QuickMenu, you’d want to scroll down to the S section and choose Select Brush.

When viewing your list of QuickMenus, touch any of them once and it will allow you to rename it.
To delete a QuickMenu, swipe left on the QuickMenu you’d like to delete and it will bring up a delete button you can push.

If you decide you don’t want to use a single finger touch to bring up QuickMenu, there are plenty of other options to choose from, such as a four-finger tap, Apple Pencil squeeze, or a three finger swipe.

When you take time initially to set up several QuickMenus and then practice using them and switching tools in and out as needed, you’ll find QuickMenus can really speed up your work process over time. You’ll spend less time finding things and more time creating. What’s not to love about that?

Happy painting!
