Artist Ron Deviney is the reason I’m a graphic designer, book cover designer, and 3D stock art designer. Without him, I wouldn’t have a career in art and design. Many centuries ago, before my first novel was published, I went rummaging around the Internet for information on how to use Photoshop, so I could figure out if I had the guts to make my own book cover—or, at the very least, some ad graphics. I came across one of Ron’s Brush packs specifically designed for use in Photoshop. I was so new to design, I had no idea Photoshop brushes could be so, well, spectacular!

For some projects, it makes sense to have the client browse the DepositPhotos.com stock image site so they can see what’s available and possible. They may not realize, however, that simply clicking on an image won’t capture the information the designer needs to find the image again. Clicking simply opens the image in a light box and doesn’t bring up a permanent URL for that image. So that only gets you part of the way there.
